Beginners Foundation
Duration: 3 Months
Price: Rs 10,000
Start: Available year-round
Competitions: No competitions for this level
Ages: Mostly suitable for ages 12–14, but open to all beginners aged 12–17
Best For: Complete beginners, those with little prior experience
This introductory 3-month program develops the essential foundation skills required to begin playing tennis confidently. Students learn the correct grips, basic forehand and backhand techniques, ready position, footwork, and simple rally control. Training focuses on movement, timing, coordination, and familiarising students with the full court.
At this stage, players are guided gently into understanding scoring, ball placement, and simple game situations. Warm-up routines and stretching are included in every session to develop body awareness and prevent injuries.
This course is ideal for younger students (ages 12–14), but older students aged up to 17 may also join if they have not played before. Students with experience in other racquet sports such as badminton may skip this course and begin from Intermediate Match Play.
Upon completion, all students receive an SLTA-approved certificate, confirming that they have mastered the fundamentals and are ready to progress to the next level.
Intermediate Match Play
Duration: 5 Months
Price: Rs 18,000
Start: January intake only
Competitions: Includes friendly inter-club matches around Kandy and occasional Colombo events
Ages: 12–17, placement based on assessment of ability + age suitability
Fitness Program: Optional at this level
This 5-month program is ideal for juniors who have mastered basic techniques and are ready to play structured match-style tennis. Training includes rally patterns, consistent forehand–backhand transitions, improved serving mechanics, and footwork designed for sustained point play.
Students participate in weekly match-play sessions, doubles rotations, and situational rally drills to strengthen tactical understanding. They learn court coverage, recovery steps, point construction, and how to adapt their shots during live rallies.
Players also participate in friendly inter-club tournaments held in Kandy. Selected students may be invited to compete in additional matches organised in Colombo.
This program is suitable for students aged 12–17, although the coaching team may place older beginners (aged 15–17) directly into this level if they show adequate natural ability or experience from other sports.
Completion of this course awards an SLTA-approved certificate and prepares players for the Advanced Junior Performance program.
Advanced Junior Performance
Duration: 7 Months
Price: Rs 25,000
Start: January intake only
Competitions: Multiple inter-club competitions in Kandy + organised tournament-style mock matches
Ages: 12–17, placement strictly ability-based with professional assessment
Fitness Program: Compulsory from this level (additional fee applies)
This high-intensity 7-month program is tailored for students preparing for competitive tennis pathways. Training focuses on advanced footwork, tactical positioning,
attacking/defensive transitions, pressure-handling techniques, and strategic point construction.
Players undergo match-simulation training, work on advanced serving and return routines, and learn how to analyse opponents, adjust patterns mid-match, and mentally
manage longer games. The program includes strength-focused warmups, recovery patterns, and technical endurance drills.
At this stage, players must also participate in our professional fitness and conditioning program, which includes agility, stamina building, core strengthening, and
movement efficiency work. This fitness component is mandatory to ensure players can safely manage higher-intensity performance play.
Throughout the program, students will compete in multiple inter-club events within Kandy, and selected players may be invited to compete in external matches.
We also organise competitive mock tournaments to prepare students for formal competitive paths.
Upon completion, students receive an SLTA-approved performance certificate, and strong performers may be shortlisted to join the club’s official pathway leading into adult courts after age 18.
Fitness & Conditioning for Juniors – Competitive Pathway
Duration: 9 Months
Price: Rs 40,000
Start: Mostly begins after October (not offered every year)
Competitions: Regular inter-club tournaments, school tournaments, and invitational matches
Ages: 12–17, but only for players who have completed
Advanced Junior Performance
Entry: No direct entry allowed; players must be selected based on performance
Travel: Possible travel to events with partner clubs such as
Navy, Air Force, and the National Squad
This 9-month competitive conditioning program is designed for high-performing juniors who have already completed the Advanced Junior Performance level a
nd shown strong consistency in tournaments. This course is not about learning theory or basic techniques—students at this level already have a full technical
foundation. Instead, the focus shifts heavily toward physical development, competition exposure, and high-pressure match readiness.
Players spend a significant part of their training on fitness work rather than tennis volume, including agility systems, speed circuits, resistance routines,
recovery patterns, and endurance conditioning. This is necessary because players selected for this level usually represent the club in tournaments and require
superior physical capacity to compete successfully.
Throughout the program, students participate in school tournaments, inter-club events, invitational matches, and other competitive fixtures. Our academy often
collaborates with teams such as the Navy, Air Force, and the National Squad, which means players may need to travel for selected matches or
joint-training events.
This course is not offered every year. Admission depends
on overall student intake, yearly performance outcomes, and management decisions. In the past 10 years, this program has only been conducted three times,
making it one of the most exclusive developmental pathways in the region.
Completing this level awards students an SLTA-approved certificate
and significantly increases their chances of progressing into high-level club performance squads and advanced adult training environments after turning 18.
Tournament Preparation Program – Elite Competitive Group
Duration: 11 Months
Price: Rs 55,000
Start: Mostly begins after October (only offered selectively)
Competitions: Heavy tournament schedule with inter-club, invitational, and school championship events
Ages: 12–17, but strictly for players selected from Course 4
Entry: No direct entry; participation strictly by performance selection
Travel: Frequent travel with other clubs
(Navy, Air Force, and national-level teams)
This 11-month elite tournament program is the highest and most selective level offered by the academy. It is strictly available only to students who
have completed the previous level and demonstrated exceptional commitment, discipline, and match performance. There is no direct entry into this course under any circumstance.
At this advanced stage, the training structure shifts almost entirely toward competition-oriented development. Technical teaching is minimal because
students in this group already possess advanced skill levels. Instead, the focus is placed on:
Tournament strategy and tactical sharpening
Match-pressure endurance
Rotation-based match simulations
Situational decision-making
Post-match analysis for performance refinement
Physical training remains a major priority. In fact, most sessions involve high-intensity physical activities rather than tennis drills, as players at this level represent the academy in numerous competitions and must be conditioned accordingly.
Students frequently participate in inter-club tournaments, official school championships, invitational matches, and competitive fixtures arranged with
clubs such as the Navy, Air Force, and the national development squad. Because of this collaboration, students should expect regular travel, both
within Kandy and to other major centres.
This course is not guaranteed every year. Whether it runs
depends entirely on annual student performance outcomes, the number of eligible players, and club management decisions. Historically, only three elite batches
have been conducted in the last decade, highlighting the extremely selective nature of this pathway.
Graduates receive an SLTA-approved Tournament Certificate,
and outstanding performers are often considered first for transition into adult club courts and senior competitive squads once they turn 18.
